The Finals |
Raging Trout
(19-5, #1)
vs. Southlake Slackers
(18-6, #2) Skinny: The Raging Trout reclaimed the title that they lost in last years finals becoming the first #1 seed to win it all. The Trout put it all together as their bats got hot early (.321 BA Overall) and their pitching stayed strong (13-5, 2 CG, 5 SV, 3.81 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, 4.03 K/BB) in completing a season sweep of a very able Southlake Slackers squad. The Slackers found themselves in a hole early on as their lumber was a bit quiet while the pitching staff was compiling innings but not wins. By the time the Slackers started cooking, they couldn't quite get over the hump despite bringing 10 hitting and pitching categories into 'toss up' status by the final weekend. The Slackers finished up with a .266 BA and a 4.43 ERA that has to be a little disappointing to the leagues best pitching team. RP Smoltz missing the finals didn't help either. So the Slackers thrilling run, from 12th in 2001 to 11th in 2002 to the title game in 2003 comes to and end.....at least until spring of 2004. |
