The
Recap

PowerWave edges Raging Trout 12-11
Skinny:
PowerWave claims champions in rock'em, sock'em shootout.

Recap:
It was a final that had it all.  Hitting streaks, unexpected performances, costly injuries and lots of pitching.   In the end, and as has happened to so many teams throughout the season........it all come down to the last day of the week.

PowerWave and the Trout entered the final day deadlocked at 12-12 with many categories still in play:  Runs, Walks, SBs, HR's, Batting Avg, CGs, SHO's, GIDPs, HBP, WHIP and K/BB.   Any one of these categories realistically could have 'turned'.

To further add an element of intrigue, there was the possibility that the Yankees might have to play a make-up game with Tampa Bay on Monday.  The Yankees prevailed in their game on Sunday to remove the need of the make-up game.

Both teams fielded their respective lineups and watched.   With the Trout holding the ERA tiebreaker, it was up to PowerWave to turn at least one category.  In an unlikely turn of events, that category turned out to be the BB category.  Jose Vidro, long-time Trout killer, mustered two BB's to represent the entire output for the PowerWave squad.  This was just enough as the entire RT team could only manage a single BB for the day.  This allowed the 'Wave to tie the category and take the championship hardware.

Notable:
- The #2 regular season team has claimed yet another championship.  All championships to date (4) have been won by the #2 team.
- PowerWave becomes the first team to win multiple championships (2).
- PowerWave becomes the first team to win back-to-back championships (
Hoops 2001, Baseball 2002).
- PowerWave has now appeared in three consecutive championship games (
Football 2001, Hoops 2001, Baseball 2002).
- The Raging Trout have become the first team to drop back-to back championship games  (Hoops 2001, Baseball 2002).
